Saving Lives Grassroots GrantsGrassroots Grants: UK HIV and sexual health charity to offer grants to grassroots organisations that work to improve the lives of people living with, or affected by, HIV.

Saving Lives, the UK-based HIV and sexual health charity known for its innovative home sampling kits, is today opening applications for three ‘Grassroots Grants’ of £1000 each. These will be aimed at small groups or organisations that are working on the ground to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of people living with, or affected by, HIV in their communities.

The past two years have been an especially difficult year for the voluntary sector and Saving Lives is conscious that more and more people are relying on small charities and informal support services. Through these grants the charity hopes to offer a boost to any fledgling or struggling group that is working hard to serve and support people living with HIV.

The charity’s clinical director, Dr Steve Taylor, emphasises that this focus on smaller organisations is based in Saving Lives’ own roots. “When we launched nearly ten years ago, we did so powered only by the commitment of volunteers and the generosity of like-minded partners,” he says.

“The ‘Grassroots Grants’ programme is our way of giving back, and helping seed the next generation of transformational small charities.”

Saving Lives actively invites applications from every corner of the United Kingdom and hopes to fund a diverse range of projects.

Applications are welcome from any small group or organisation with a turnover (including any parent organisation) of less than £25,000 per annum that is working to improve the physical or mental wellbeing of people living with, or affected by, HIV.

Successful applicants will be expected to create a visual diary or report, using photos and/or video, of the work that their Grassroots Grant funded.

“We are hoping to fund a wide range of activities, and are open to any sort of project or plna that is aimed at achieving the sorts of improvements we, too, want to see,” says the charity’s Director of Operations, Dan Hartland. “Any and all ideas are welcome – we’re excited to see what kinds of projects groups nationwide are working on!”

Applications are welcomed from Tuesday 12th October 2021 and close on Friday 12th November 2021. Winners will be announced on World AIDS Day Wednesday 1st December 2021.
