Placing HIV awareness messages in the mainstream media has traditionally been difficult for campaigns looking to present the facts to the general public. That’s why we were so excited to see both The Sun and the Daily Express cover the launch of Football Saving Lives this weekend: the Sun, for instance, pictured Aston Villa player Alan Hutton with his Saving Lives shirt, while both papers provided our website’s URL to their readers. This is precisely the sort of coverage – and the sort of communication – we’re looking to achieve with our activity.
