This month, our Arts Council England-funded Cover Up project has been exhibiting the quilts produced by its participants in both Birmingham’s Hippodrome and Jubilee Centre.
What has been most rewarding about these public exhibitions are the conversations that the quilts have generated. From very young children to great-grandparents, the quilts spark questions about the history of HIV – and where it is today. “They’re doing their job!” says Garry Jones, the project’s co-ordinator.
Saving Lives has been especially proud to work alongside the Cover Up team and support them in delivering this fantastic educational and community-building project. We’re looking forward to more exhibitions – and more artistic work together – in the future.
