HIV Medicine is improving all the time.

People on proper HIV treatment can live a nearly normal life expectancy.

Samuel Michael “Sam” Vokes, commonly known as Sam Vokes, is an English-born Welsh professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Burnley and the Wales national team.

Vokes began his professional career at then League One Bournemouth, making his debut in 2006. His form there earned a move to Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he helped them win promotion to the Premier League in his first season.

“Many of my team-mates at Wolves also supported Saving Lives – because we could see how important a cause it is,” Sam explains. “It’s a simple message really – don’t be afraid of an HIV test – and yet it just doesn’t get out there. As an advocate, my job is to make sure it does.”

He has become an established member of the Welsh national team, who he has also represented at under-21 level. Although born and raised in England, Vokes is eligible to represent Wales through a Welsh-born grandfather. [Source: Wikipedia]
