Beginning at the Capitol Gold & BRMB networks in 1998, Ian broadcast reports from Walsall matches for the stations’ Saturday afternoon output, quickly rising in prominence to become lead commentator for West Bromwich Albion games in their promotion season of 2000/1 whilst also providing live commentary on games involving Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton Wandrerers & Walsall.
Upon his move to national talkSPORT radio in 2004, Ian started reporting countrywide on Premier league and Championship games and was then chosen to be part of the station’s commentary team for the World Cup in 2006, which led to him providing full 90-minute commentary on 8 games at the tournament including the 3rd/4th place play-off.
Ian has since been used to commentate on live games in the Premier League for talkSPORT as part of their hugely successful ‘Matchday Live’ programme and was also lead commentator for the station’s coverage of the 20/20 cricket finals day at Edgbaston in 2007. Ian is also a regular commentator at UEFA.com on Champions League and Europa League matches as well as working for Everton TV as commentator on their Premier League games.
Then in summer 2010, Ian was selected by talkSPORT to travel to South Africa as their No.2 commentator for the FIFA World Cup, calling the action in games involving sides such as Argentina, France, Italy and Spain.
