“HIV just doesn’t seem to be spoken about that much anymore – and it is such a huge life problem especially in countries like Kenya where I was brought up,” says Great Britain’s defensive hockey ace, Crista Cullen. “We should all be more aware of it, educate people and keep each other healthier.”

Currently playing for Leicester Hockey Club, Crista’s career has been playing internationally since 2003. Progressing from the England team to Great Britain’s 2008 Olympic team via the 2006 Great Britain Hockey Athlete of the Year title, Crista went on to be Great Britain’s top goal scorer at the Chinese Games. She has been named three times in the International Hockey Federation’s World All Stars Team and has three Commonwealth and European Championship bronze medals to her name.

Joining Saving Lives as an advocate in 2012, Crista is a hugely strong voice for our messages – and her knowledge and experience of Africa adds an important international dimension to her advocacy. Thanks, Crista!
